The Organization

Diabetes Philippines, Inc. has been in existence for over 60 years. Its objectives and functions have been incorporated in its Constitution and By-Laws. Recently, its Mission—to be the prime mover for excellent diabetes care and prevention in the Philippines—and its Vision—a diabetes-free Philippines—have continued to guide the organization's work.

Diabetes Philippines continues its pursuit of these Mission and Vision through scientific meetings, workshops, educational activities, and participation in projects involved in the campaign to increase awareness of diabetes and promote better diabetes care.

This website was created with the purpose of making medical information more readily accessible to healthcare providers and to everyone interested in diabetes. At the same time, communication with experts in the field is made available through its Questions and Answer Corner.

The medical physician directory is provided to facilitate patients' search for diabetes specialists, particularly those outside Metro Manila. The Diabetes Watch, the bi-annual publication of the association, together with announcements and information concerning association activities, are also featured on this website.

The rising prevalence of diabetes worldwide is alarming. Research for a cure continues in many centers around the world. Unless a cure is found, the need for disease prevention cannot be overemphasized.

Thus, one of the important missions of the society—and one of the objectives of this website—is to educate the public regarding the care and prevention of this devastating disease.
